Components

In the field of computer technology the term "upgrade" refers to a replacement of software or hardware with a version that provides new functions or features. Upgrades are generally performed to make a computer system faster and more reliable, or capable of handling greater quantities of data. Hardware upgrades include hard disk drives and motherboards. Upgrades to computers must be compatible with the specifications of the computer being upgraded.

In Guild Wars 2, upgrade items can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an attribute bonus or another effect when the equipment is used. To accept a component an item must be in an upgrade slot and be at an appropriate level.

Components can be purchased from vendors in Night City, obtained by disassembling items that don't work, or found randomly in the world. Components can be purchased from vendors, even when the item isn't appropriate for the level.

Various types of components exist, with universal upgrades (such as gemstones) able to be placed in any equipment and offering less bonuses than those that are categorized. Jewels however are only able to be placed in trinkets and offer higher bonuses than other upgrade item.

There are also  item upgrader  which are special upgrade items that can only be placed in a trinket, and can be used to create an experience multiplier. They are excellent for maximizing a character, as they're relatively cheap to buy but they're not able to be combined with other experience modifiers.

Infusions can be added to legendaries and non-ascended armor as well as other non-legendary items. They can be recovered using the tool to extract them or salvaging with the Ascended Rescue Tool.  item upgrade  to note is that upgrading an item using infusions will cause the item to have a unique name. For instance the addition of an infusion of Rune of Minor Vigor to a Tyrian Armor will cause it to display the name "Radiant Tyrian Armor." Similarly, an written inscription on a weapon will appear in its hover display as an Inscribed Weapon.

Glyphs

Glyphs can improve the substatus of a piece of gear. They can be found in many places, but the most common place to obtain them is by finishing Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides. They are also available through the Faction Crypts. The Glyphs you find in the crypts are specific to the class, so ensure that you only claim those that are applicable to your character. You can purchase your Glyphs at the Glyph Altar in Teleria. This altar will increase your enchanted item's value by a certain amount depending on the Glyph that you use.

Generally, the glyphs that are available will provide a boost to your primary stat, however some will have other effects, such as increasing damage, healing, or resistance. Glyphs are a great method to improve your equipment, but they aren't always easy to obtain and use. The best way to make sure that you get the most out of your glyphs is to upgrade them regularly. The upgraded glyphs will be visible in your inventory.

Some dropped items have the default glyph, which will automatically upgrade whenever you improve the item. However, this only applies to the original enchantment, not the glyph created manually on the item. Glyphs that are automatically upgraded have a higher ranking over the glyphs you manually created.

Glyphs are an important part of the crafting process. They let you change prefixes into an affix that is experimental on gloves, boots and belts. Glyphs can be difficult to acquire due to the RNG aspect of their creation. To assist with this, we've created a Glyph of Insight Crafting Spreadsheet to guide players through their progression.

Some tips for getting Glyphs faster are to choose shorter, easier-to-complete dungeons like Witchwater. The dungeon is linear in layout, making it easy to travel through and beat enemies. Consuming health potions between the dungeons will speed up the process.

Upgrade items are accessories that are used to increase the effectiveness of units in Guild Wars 2. They are available in a wide range and can enhance various aspects. The upgrades improve the physical power, spell power and health of armors, weapons and rings. The upgrades also add additional abilities to the unit. The player can play with an item by placing it in its corresponding slot on the unit's portrait.

Recycling up to six items at a time is possible, and points you earn for recycling will increase depending on the rarity and value of the item. The resultant upgrade will be random, and cannot be guaranteed.

The decision to reroll or no is a personal decision, according to the player's preferences. Some players reroll to ensure they have a stable collection of characters to help through the game. Others may decide to not reroll because they prefer to play with their favourite character no regardless of how powerful.

Rerolling can be costly and requires an enormous amount of time therefore you must carefully consider the advantages and disadvantages. If you're not sure the best rerolling strategy discuss it with other players and ask advice.

While the extra stats provided by an upgrade can assist the build, they aren't always the most beneficial. If there are already nearly perfect non-upgraded versions of a high DPS item (whistan’s shield for FB Sorcs for instance) upgrading it might not be as beneficial.
